We were joined by Tayla Olsen and Parie Hines, of both Whole Washington West Seattle Indivisible's Health Care Team, to discuss healthcare access in Washington and how we can take steps toward making healthcare accessible to all. Following their presentation, members and guests participated in a lively discussion that raised important questions about how we might implement universal healthcare in Washington State.

Black history is American history, and it is important that we recognize the lived experience of Black Americans and how those experiences have shaped the country we live in today. The pre-meeting program for our March Membership Meeting highlights the work of our Non-Violent Resistance Committee. Non-violent resistance a strategy for social or political change using peaceful methods like protests, boycotts, and civil disobedience to challenge authority and oppression, aiming to create understanding and reconciliation. More broadly, our committee is working to establish a comprehensive mutual aid and response network in and around our district. Stop by the program to learn more!

Before our August Membership Meeting we're bringing in a unique partner — Meaningful Movies. Holding screenings of films that address important social, economic, and political issues, they've found a very creative way to bring community together and spark deep dialogue. We're getting ready to bring you Bend It Like Booker Round 2! In 2025, inspired by Senator Cory Booker's record-breaking filibuster, we organized a 25-hour speaking event that brought people from across the United States together to discuss a range of issues. We heard from community leaders, artists, and elected officials including Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Governor Bob Ferguson, and Senator Cory Booker himself! In 2026, we're bringing it back — and you definitely don't want to miss it!

Ahead of our October Membership Meeting, knowing that it is our last business meeting, we are bringing together Party leaders at every level to talk about the importance (and process) of developing the Democratic Party. County Central Committees will start electing new leaders in December and, from there, the rest of the Party will begin to reorganize. From Precinct Committee Officers to the officers of the Democratic National Committee, our Party is what we make it. With 2028 right around the corner, it's important we get it right.

Bend It Like Booker

Connecting Communities Across the Country

Inspired by Senator Cory Booker’s record-setting filibuster, “Bend It Like Booker” is a 25-hour speaker series hosted by our Programs and Community Partnerships Committee. In 2025, BILB brought together elected leaders, experts from diverse backgrounds, community organizers, and artists to share about their passions and the negative impacts of the Trump Administration on our communities.

We even got to hear from Governor Bob Ferguson, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, and Senator Cory Booker himself!
