Progress is not just a principle — it is a promise. A promise that we will build a future rooted in justice, shaped by community, and led by common sense. We face serious challenges: democracy under attack, deepening inequality, and a political system too often captured by corporate interests. We know what is at stake. We refuse to stand complacent or settle for stagnation because we recognize that every failure to step forward sets us back. That is why we organize. That is why we fight. That is why we lead.
Our purpose is clear: support civic leaders, shape public policy, and ignite community action that advances social, economic, environmental, and political justice for all. Accomplishing this means electing leaders who stand with working people, protect public services, and govern with integrity. It means turning progressive values into practical results — not someday, but now.
We expect to create a society where everyone has what they need to thrive, including: stable housing, livable wages, inclusive schools, accessible healthcare, clean environments, good governance, and safe neighborhoods. We are partnering across communities, standing in solidarity with those who share our progressive values because we know lasting change is people-powered.
Progressivism is common sense. It simply means we are committed to moving forward together.
This policy platform is meant to guide the organization’s work in the coming years as we fight to elect strong Democrats and promote bold Democratic policy at every level of government. With this document setting out our guiding values and positions, the time for action is now.
Platform Process
In even-numbered years, our organization reviews and revises this platform to ensure it reflects the values and priorities of our members. Our Platform and Legislative Action Committee leads the process of discussion among their committee members, offering recommendations to the Executive Board, and administering the member review and comment period. The committee begins its work in December of each odd year with the goal of releasing a Draft Platform to the membership for review and comment forty days prior to the March membership meeting.
For the 2026 Platform process, the committee met in December 2025 to perform an initial review of the 2024 Platform and identify potential areas for improvement. Their draft will be considered for approval by the Executive Board on Wednesday, January 21. If approved for member review and comment, the draft will be distributed via email on Sunday, January 25.
The member review and comment period will extend through Tuesday, February 24, after which comments will be reviewed by the Platform and Legislative Action Committee and consolidated into proposed amendments by Sunday, March 1. This version of the draft platform will be distributed with the members-only email and meeting call on March 1, and the proposed amendments and the underlying platform will be considered for adoption.
