Every year our organization endorses the candidates and campaigns our members believe best align with our values and goals. Earning our endorsement means a candidate or campaign receives our support in terms of dollars, door-knocking, and promotion on our website and social media. Endorsements are earned by meeting the qualification criteria outlined in our Bylaws and receiving the votes necessary from our membership. For the 2026 Primary Election, we have two scheduled endorsement meetings: May 13 and June 10. Between these meetings we will consider endorsements for Congressional District 7, State Supreme Court, 34th Legislative District Senator, 34th Legislative District Representative Positions 1 and 2, King County Prosecuting Attorney, King County Assessor, King County Council District 8, Seattle Municipal Court, statewide initiatives, and local levies.

An endorsement from the 34th District Democrats means a candidate or campaign gets the support of the best organized Legislative District in the state! Once we have agreed to support, we offer direct financial support, assistance with precinct prioritization to help target the votes they need to win, and a platform from which to advocate for your vision for the future. The amount a candidate or campaign receives is set by our Executive Board, which weighs how valuable our dollars may be in a given race — often across criteria like expected fundraising for the campaign, how competitive the race is expected to be, and the total number of endorsed candidates in that year compared to our budget. Precinct prioritization is managed by our Caucus and Elections Committee, which analyzes past electoral performance of candidates in our endorsee’s jurisdiction as well as turnout in similar election years to identify the best investment of volunteer time from our more than 100 volunteer canvassers!
In 2025, we invested nearly $20,000 and worked with partner organizations at the state, county, and city level (both in Seattle and Burien) to deliver a clean sweep of progressive wins up and down the ballot. This year we looking for the same results: defeating regressive statewide initiatives, supporting funding for critical local investments, and electing the leaders who will faithfully serve the interests of working people.
