Review of Agenda and Minutes 

  • October minutes approved by majority
  • Agenda for tonight approved by majority 

2021 Accomplishments 

  • Expanded membership – 553 members! 
  • More diverse membership, representative of our district
  • We updated our Endorsement Rules, adopted a Platform, adopted 12 resolutions, stood up a Membership Policy Caucus structure, introduced a speaker series “Reframing Issues of Equity” and hosted 13 programs. 
  • 2 Adopt-a-Street clean ups and 2 Burien Outreach events with 25+ voter registrations.
  • We endorsed and supported 17 candidates and 2 initiatives 
  • We held 8 canvas events and partnered with 4 organizations 
  • All during COVID!!!!  

Announcements & Upcoming Dates 

  • Newsletter articles due Thursday, December 2

  • Bylaws Committee meeting – early December, changes to board in February.  If you’re interested in participating in the Rules & Bylaws committee (or just have ideas or suggestions on things to address), email bylaws@34dems.org
  • April Fundraiser Planning – starting in January
  • Received email from Mayor Matta regarding election support, and the chair and he are meeting to discuss.  
  • Need to review the 34th election engagement and methods, and determine what works best. 
  • January 19th – consider an in-person meeting?  6:30 – 8:00 at a central location? 
  • Gina Topp moved and Karen Richter seconded to give $250 toward the school levy campaign and take it to the membership.  Board approved unanimously.  
  • Holiday Donations – $1,000 in the budget.  Gina moved and Rachel seconded for $250 to each of the four food banks given last year. Verbal approval, no opposition.  
  • Chris and Carla will research creating FB donation links in addition to support these food banks. 

Holiday Service Project 

  • Three ways to help Dec 12 
    • Cook, donate food to be cooked
    • Donate Items
    • Donate $ (for the purchase of items)

School Levy Contribution

It was noted that a motion to consider making a contribution to the Schools First campaign (for the Seattle Public Schools Levies) would need to be done at the January membership meeting. We donated $100 to the Highline School Levy. 

Resolutions 

  • KCDCC Resolution on Access to the Democratic Party VoteBuilder Resource 
    • Resolution is being taken back for reconsideration. 

Good of the Order

  • Norman Sigler got married and will be moving out of the 34th.
