Outreach Committee - April 2005
Hello Everyone,
the outreach committee had a meeting on 4/15/05. The minutes are
below. Our next meeting is 4/25 at 7:00 p.m. at Beveridge Place
Pub.
Item 1
We reviewed the goal of the Outreach Committee. It is to increase
membership with an emphasis on diversity and participation.
Item 2
We reviewed the project in place that will help us meet our goal.
Project 1
Reaching out to community organizations. The sub-committee has identified
that currently we only have the resources to build relationships
with 10 organizations. (Tim will provide a list). We discussed what
it would take to increase this number to 20. More volunteers who
are willing to take on the responsibility of building relationships.
Sarah volunteered to work with Ivan to seek out more people. The
sub-committeee will identify 20 more organizations. It was noted
that if done correctly, this is no easy task and that 10 is really
a very aggressive goal.
Project 2
Ensuring we have a presence at community events. The sub-committee
is ensuring first that the big events are covered. These are: West
Seattle Street Fair, White Center Jubilee Days, Burien Strawberry
Festival, Vashon Strawberry Festival, and Alki Music Festival. Team
leaders have been assigned for each of these events. The next step
is to identify the smaller events and see if we can find leaders
to help coordinate these events. The sub-committee will create a
list by 5/15 for posting on the website.
Project 3
Reaching out to the community using PCO involvement. A plan has
been created. It is listed below.
1) Create a volunteer list by 6/1 to help fill the gaps where PCOs
do not want to be involved or require some assisstance. Sarah
2) Call the PCO?s to determine their involvement by 5/15-Steve
3) Create some canned content packages that the PCO?s can use if
they want by 6/1.-Mary and Karen. We will work with the Legislative
Committee to ensure the items are consistent in message.
